Ryan Allenbach

Ryan spent the summer at the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (a $110 billion pension plan) with the Private Equity group, analyzing indicators of private fund performance and healthcare opportunities in China.  For the three years prior to business school, Ryan worked in Accenture’s Health and Life Sciences group – consulting managed care organizations on post-merger integration, strategic product development, go-to-market strategies, and positioning for healthcare reform.  As a first-year MBA student, Ryan represented Brigham Young University at the 2011 Wharton LBO competition and the 2011 Human Capital Case Competition at Vanderbilt.  Ryan received a B.S. in Accounting from Brigham Young University and speaks Portuguese.

Locke Andersen

Locke interned with Celanese Corporation, a global technology and specialty materials company in Dallas, where he worked directly with senior leadership to convey European strategy to the board of directors. He began his career with Duff & Phelps, a financial advisory firm, where he performed valuation work related to mergers and acquisitions in the technology industry. As a first year MBA student, Locke competed in the Venture Capital Investment Competition. He currently serves as the Vice President of Activities for the Graduate Finance Association. Locke received a B.S. in Finance from Brigham Young University.

Mason Chenn

Mason interned this past summer with Pelion Venture Partners where he worked on deal sourcing and diligence on early-stage growth companies. Prior to his MBA, he worked at Merrill Lynch in wealth management and later joined Zinch.com where he grew their international business.  As a first-year MBA student, Mason represented Brigham Young University at the 2011 Wharton LBO competition, organized a program sponsored trip to China, and was awarded the Eccles Scholarship.  He is currently involved in Morning Market Call as a co-anchor.  Mason received a B.S. from Brigham Young University in Molecular Biology and speaks Mandarin Chinese.

Scott Cole

Scott interned at Celanese Corporation, a global technology and specialty materials company, where he worked in the office of strategic growth. At Celanese he worked directly with the chief marketing officer to develop models to value the stage-gate and innovation portfolio. Prior to business school Scott spent two years as a financial analyst for Calence, an IT management consulting firm, and one year working in the financial services industry. In his first year at the Marriott School he participated in the Venture Capital Investment Competition and currently serves on the MBA general council. Scott holds a BIS in business and biology from Arizona State University and speaks Spanish.

Gavin Gee

Studying economics and finance have always been Gavin's hobby, but this last summer he was finally able to put them into practice as he worked at ExxonMobil in Houston Texas.  At ExxonMobil he was able to work with engineers to determine the profitability of new projects.  Prior to his MBA Gavin worked at National Instruments in Austin Texas where he debugged code for NASA, built robots for little kids, and eventually managed the search engine for the company website.

Reina Gould

Reina split her summer between Pelion Venture Partners doing series A and B deal due diligence and PwC as a management consultant. During her first year of business school, she competed on the regional team of the Venture Capital Investment Competition. Prior to business school, she worked at the Economic Development Corporation of Utah as a business development manager where she assisted her client companies through their due diligence on expanding in or relocating to Utah. Reina has worked with companies from start-up to Fortune 500, including Symantec, EMC, Royal Bank of Scotland, Wells Fargo Financial and USBank. Reina received her B.A. in General Business Management in 2006.

Stephen Haynes

Stephen interned last summer at Dell Inc in the Global Audit & Transformation group, managing a process-standardization project for Dell’s Treasury Banking solution used by the Global Treasury teams in the US, Asia and Europe regions.  Prior to his MBA, Stephen spent 12 years in the ICT Enterprise Services industry with SingTel Optus.  His most recent roles included leading Global (Customer) Transformation Programs and managing the capabilities of the services group.  His other roles included six years of operations management and commercial roles supporting bids, business case development and profitability analysis of customer contracts.  Prior to this, Stephen worked in Tokyo as a business manager for a start-up, private International School managing recruitment, payroll, immigration & logistics, business development and marketing.  He currently serves as President of the International Graduate Student Association in the Marriott School of Management.  Stephen is from Brisbane, Australia where he earned a B. Business in Accounting from Queensland University of Technology.  Stephen is also a CPA, holds qualifications in ITIL, Project Management and Lean Six Sigma and has worked a number of years in Singapore and Japan.

Carl Haynie

Carl interned with Intel developing a Social Media plan for their new AppUp Store. He also spent part of the summer in India doing research and developing business partnerships for a local social venture. During his first year in MBA school, Carl co-founded the program's first MBA Management Consulting Club. Before returning to get his MBA, Carl worked as a local TV news producer in Alabama. He received his undergrad in Broadcast Journalism/Communications from BYU.

Douglas Hervey

Douglas worked in Boston this past summer with Harvard Business School Professor Clayton Christensen. He is currently co-authoring a book with Professor Christensen on marketing using his jobs-to-be-done framework.  Douglas also worked heavily in the health care area and provided reform recommendations to Congressional leaders and Presidential Candidates.  Prior to business school, Douglas practiced law in Washington D.C., where he represented clients involved in securities and anti-trust related litigation. Douglas received a B.A. in International Relations from Brigham Young University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Tyler Larson

Tyler spent the summer at Ford Motor Company as a finance analyst in the North American Sales and Marketing Group. Prior to his MBA, Tyler operated an investment company placing investments in the real estate and energy sectors. He also spent three years managing successful sales teams, including managing one of the nations top 20 salespeople, and spent two years as a finance manager for a medium-size automotive group. Tyler is the Career Development Vice President over Corporate Finance for the Graduate Finance Association, a top 10% MBA candidate and holds two B.A.’s from the University of Utah in Finance and German.

Brad Moss

Brad spent the summer working for Citigroup in NYC.  He held two different roles during his internship, one in HR working in Learn and Development, and the other in Marketing inside Citi’s Consumer Bank.  Prior to getting his MBA, Brad started 2 profitable companies, both still running today.  In addition to his entrepreneurial endevors Brad managed one of the biggest divisions in the largest independent video game development studio in North America and he also taught as an Adjust Professor at Utah Valley University. Brad has a BA in Film from the University of Utah.

Cory Steffan

Cory spent the summer in the Corporate FP&A group at United Stationers, a Fortune 500 wholesale distributor, where he developed financial models to support a plan targeting long-term growth in shareholder value.  Prior to his MBA, Cory spent several years in the management consulting industry at Salt Lake City based Equation Consulting.  As a first year MBA student, Cory competed in the ACG M&A Case Competition and performed due diligence for potential Cougar Capital deals.  He currently serves as a vice president of the Graduate Finance Association.  Cory received a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Utah.

James Tall

James spent the summer with LucidChart, a startup providing web-based diagramming and visual communication solutions, where he worked directly with the company’s leaders in a marketing and product management role. Prior to getting his MBA, James spent two years at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences before finding  a love for business. He began his career with Eastside Harley-Davidson, one of the top Harley-Davidson dealerships in the world, where he managed marketing and rental operations. As a first year MBA student, James competed in the Venture Capital Investment Competition. James received a B.S. in Physiology and Developmental Biology from Brigham Young University.

James Toone

James interned this past summer in Hong Kong as a summer associate in the Investment Banking Division at Credit Suisse. He worked primarily with the Equity Capital Markets and Corporate Finance groups, performing due diligence and advising clients on capital raising in the Chinese IPO market. Prior to his MBA, he spent three years in Shanghai working in wealth management at an offshore wealth management brokerage, and one year at JPMorgan Chase working in retail banking. He currently serves as the president of the Graduate Finance Association and the executive vice president of the China Business Club at the Marriott School. James received a B.A. in Asian Studies and Chinese from Brigham Young University.

Gary Williams

Gary Williams founded Cougar Capital in 2005 and has served as its advisor ever since. He teaches courses in entrepreneurial strategy and venture capital/private equity at the Marriott School at Brigham Young University. He is also a founder of the Marriott School’s Center for Entrepreneurship. Gary is currently a Partner with Utah Angels. Previous to joining the faculty at BYU he served as President and CEO of Sterling Wentwork Corporation. Gary holds a BS in Finance from BYU and an MBA from Arizona State University.

Peter Bodine

Peter Bodine is a Managing Director at Allegis Capital. Prior to Allegis he was a co-founder with APV Technology Partners. Mr. Bodine also worked at Asia Pacific Ventures, a consulting and advisory service firm. Mr. Bodine holds an MBA from the University of Utah, and a BS degree from Brigham Young University.

Fraser Bullock

Mr. Bullock is a co-founder and Managing Director of Sorenson Capital. Mr. Bullock was the President and CEO of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the Olympic Winter Games of 2002. He joined the Organizing Committee in May of 1999 and acted as its Chief Operating Officer until his appointment as President and CEO in April 2002. Mr. Bullock was an original Partner of Bain Capital from 1984 to 1986. He received a Master of Business Administration and a B.A. in Economics from Brigham Young University.

Jason Gull

Jason Gull is the Global Head of Secondary Investments at Adams Street Partners in Chicago. He actively participates in all fund investment decisions at Adams Street. He held previous positions with Landmark Partners and the Salt Lake Olympic Committee. He holds a BA, magna cum laude from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Yale University.

Blake Modersitzki

Blake Modersitzki is a Managing Director at Pelion Venture Partners in Salt Lake City, Utah. Prior to joining Pelion, Blake was Managing Director for Novell Ventures and Vice President of Strategic Business Development. He holds a Bachelors degree in Economics from Brigham Young University.

Jared Stone

Jared has served as a Managing Director of Northgate Capital since 2001. He serves on several advisory and company boards. Prior to Northgate, Jared was an associate at Bain Capital and a management consultant with McKinsey & Company. Jared earned his MBA, with high distinction as a Baker Scholar, from Harvard Business School. He holds a JD from Yale Law School, and a BA in Honors Economics from Brigham Young University, where he graduated valedictorian.

Matt Wells

Matt Wells is a Partner at Holland & Hart in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mr. Wells has substantial transactional experience in business formation, venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, equity public offerings, and general public company representation. Matt held previous positions at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto and Ray Quinney & Nebeker in Salt Lake City.
